I browsed a bit and I agree with you that Astropoetica is impressive. There is something very poignant in the juxtaposition of poetry with space images..

Dear Mary Jo! I, for one, am delighted to welcome you to the eclectic, talented and extremely creative group that inhabits this site. I am one of those who read, admire and enjoy the postings presented. Whenever possible, I will comment if not too scientifically involved.
As with all of the other contributors, my eyes and mind have been wonderfully stimulated. Here, with your excellent poem, I am again enlightened.
My knowledge of the topographical makeup of the Martian surface was woefully neglected before you gave us "Tharsis Lil". I quickly did some research and came away with a mini summary that made your poem all the more meaningful.
Personification is one of my favorite figures of speech and it brought this inanimate mountain of magma to life and gave her age, emotion, stature and humor.
I thoroughly enjoyed how you put eons of existence into 3 stanzas with equal parts of wallop and whimsy.

Not a valid complaint: the poem is transparent, it lays out its references even for the non-astronomically inclined. I wish people weren't so lazy!
