Large Hadron Collider

Post by Marie »

I saw an interview the other day with Dr. Michio Kaku (Physics of the Impossible-great book, thanks Calvin and Athena!) that the initial particle beams were due for injection in the Large Hadron Collider this weekend. Has anyone been able to corroborate this action?

The theory behind this application has tweaked my interest on a layman's level. The Higgs Boson was a little beyond my knowledge of Physics but its existence would fill in many empty spaces (I know, bad pun) in this science.

Theories are theories but when they are realized , it makes the the idea that science fiction is never that far away from science fact.

I know they are scheduled to activate one beam, of relatively low energy compared to the maximum that they intend to achieve. With the time difference, we probably won't know much more till tomorrow.
