The Year Wheel Turns Again

Today is the fall equinox; the still golden light is here, and the crickets’ shy songs. Critters are busy restocking larders and refurbishing dens, and the leaves are dreaming of fiery journeys.

Autumn eats its leaf out of my hand: we are friends.
From the nuts we shell time and we teach it to walk:
then time returns to the shell.
