Awards and Other Recognitions
“The Waiting Stars” by Aliette de Bodard won the Nebula Award for Best Novelette. It was also a finalist for the Hugo and Locus awards in the same category.
The anthology is the first of its category in the Locus Recommended List.
Three of the anthology’s sixteen stories were chosen by Gardner Dozois for inclusion in Year’s Best SF 31:

A fourth story, C. W. Johnson’s “Exit, Interrupted”, has been chosen by Allan Kaster for inclusion in The Year’s Top Ten SF Tales 6.
Beyond the three stories reprinted, seven stories were listed under Honorable Mentions in Year’s Best SF 31. This means that an unprecedented 2/3 of The Other Half of the Sky is included in Year’s Best SF:
